Job Summary and Duties
The University of Nicosia Library and Information Center seeks a Part-Time Circulation Librarian to provide support at the Circulation Desk in the main University Library. This person will report directly to the Director of Libraries.
We are looking for someone who is self-directed and thrives working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, where expectations are high both for quality and efficiency. This individual will need good customer-orientated skills and have excellent communication skills both in Greek and English.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be in charge of handling all tasks involved with Circulation Services, under the supervisor. Will have to have:
- Provide library services face-to-face and explain to students how Library works
- Provides technical support for off-campus access and access to e-resources
- Provides ad-hoc training to patrons on e-resources
- Maintains and update patron records in the library’s system database
- Performs data collection and entry for the derivation of library indicator statistics
- Create material support for e-resources
- Participate in library events
- Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft packages, and learning management systems such as Moodle, and communication technologies used in providing virtual reference
- Experience in using a range of online databases, resources, and IT applications to provide reference and research assistance to online students via e-mail or phone
- Ability to apply/use advanced search techniques using both library and free on the web resources
- Experience with the development of online tutorials and webinars in information literacy
- Ability to cooperate with the supervisor and work efficiently and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Ability to adapt and work creatively in a rapidly changing environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor / Master’s degree in Library Science and /or appropriate qualifications or experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience using judgment and initiative to analyze and recommend new procedures.
- Tactful, customer service-oriented, and professional
- Pleasant personality with strong organizational & communicative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Greek
- Ability to adapt and work creatively in a rapidly changing environment.
